Last Sunday saw the end of the Gromit Unleashed art trail, when all eighty Gromits were removed from their plinths in the public, in preparation for the exhibition next week and, ultimately, the big auction. At a secret location in Bristol, all the statues were assembled to be patched up, washed down and given a bone and a bowl of water. I was lucky in that mine had suffered only minor scrapes, which were soon fixed up in no time. Over 200,000 people came to see them and the city of Bristol really took to them. I’m going to miss Gromit-O-Matic when he’s gone, but I’m looking forward to the auction, and seeing how much the big guy is going to raise for a great cause.
