Wine Republic cover illustration

Well January has got off to a cracking start, so good in fact that I’ve barely had time to do a blog post. Shocking I know! How does the world survive? So to make up for it, here is the latest cover illustration I did for Wine Republic magazine.

The next issue out will have a handy guide for getting to all the best vineyards in the area of Mendoza, where to go, how to get there, and importantly, how to get back once you’ve sample the grape juice and have maxed out your credit card.

The brief once again was incredibly simple and open, so I had lots of fun drawing road signs. It may not seem it, but road signs can be incredibly sexy and interesting objects. Fact.

Well okay that last sentence was a complete fib, but I did enjoy doing the main sign above, it was a step away from figurative illustrations which have been my main stay, for, well centuries. But I did manage to get one figure in, our hapless tourist trying to make sense of Argentine road signs.

The next issue will be out very soon, and I promise I’ll be back even sooner with more essential and necessary blog posts on illustration.
