For the past week I’ve been busy defacing a classic album cover for an upcoming show in Bristol and Nottingham.
Starting on the 10th of April in both cities, ‘Cover Bombing’ is an exhibition of customised album covers to celebrate Record Store Day 2015. The show, organised by Jacknife Prints, will have a selection of 50+ original LP album sleeves that have been given a new lease of life by an artist. The event will take place in Rise records in Bristol, and the Rough Trade store in Nottingham.
For some reason even unknown to myself, I settled on defacing Michael Jackson’s classic ‘Thriller‘ album by adding a very suave yeti.
Maybe it was the pose, maybe it was the white suit, or maybe it was just the fact that I had an unused doodle of a Yeti waiting to be appropriated.
Two copies had to be created, one for each show, and both will be on display and for sale from the 10th until the 19th April. It was a bit of a step back into the past for me, having to dig out some paintbrushes and acrylic, materials that I haven’t used in a very long time.
Looking forward to seeing the show though, as I have no idea who else is taking part.
But it promises to be very interesting indeed.
Awesome.
Thanks Kevin!
